Act 2: Foresters in the City with Ciara McCarthy

Ciara McCarthy is an Urban and Community Forestry Professional based in Bend, Oregon. Growing up in rural County Cork, Ireland, she naturally developed a love for the outdoors and an appreciation for trees. She earned her Bachelors of Science at the University of Wales in Agroforestry and quickly followed these studies with the Royal Forestry Society Certificate in Arboriculture. Ciara is an International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Certified Arborist, Municipal Specialist, and Tree Risk Assessor. She serves on the board of directors of Oregon Community Trees. Having worked in Ireland, the UK, Australia, and in the wonderful Pacific Northwest, she has gained experience in recognizing the values and stewardship of urban forests, community outreach, and the global common denominator: education. Ciara established ArborSurveys and Associates as a consultancy integrating urban forest values in public spaces and ecosystems.
